Q: Mahi, you’ve come a long way in the glamour world. Can you tell us about your journey?
A: I started my career by walking on ramps and doing ads in Jammu. After that, I moved to Mumbai with the support of my family. Initially, it was a struggle, but with God’s grace and my hard work, I got my first break with the show Shakti – Astitva Ke Ehsaas Ki. From there, my career took off, and I got the chance to work in several successful shows like Maddam Sir, Radha Mohan, Udaan, Main Mayke Chali Jaungi, Tosa Naina Milake, Subh Laabh, Ali Baba: Dastaan-E-Kabul, and Nagging 6.
Q: You’ve had the opportunity to work with Ekta Kapoor. Could you tell us more about that?
A: Yes, Ekta Kapoor played a big role in my career. I first worked with her on Kumkum Bhagya, where I portrayed a bubbly character. Later, her team contacted me again for a new daily soap, where I’ve been offered a negative role. It’s a challenging character, but I’m excited about it because it’s a great opportunity to showcase my range as an actress.
Q: Your first appearance was in Narayan Narayan on &TV. How was that experience?
A: Narayan Narayan was my first show, and it was a mythological series, which made it even more challenging for me. The costumes and the format were new to me, and I was a bit nervous. But I took it as a learning experience, and it helped me grow as an actor.
Q: What was it like working with senior actors in Shakti?
A: Working with senior actors like Vivian Dsena and Rubina Dilaik on Shakti was a little nerve-wracking at first. I was new to the set and felt a bit out of place. But I didn’t let that affect my performance. I gave my best, and everyone on the set appreciated my work. It was a turning point in my career, and it helped me gain confidence as an actor.
Q: Which character has been your favorite so far, and why?
A: The character of Aditi Toshniwal in Shubh Laabh is the one I love the most. It was a strong role, and I received a lot of love and support from my fans. That character resonated with me deeply, and the experience of playing it will always hold a special place in my heart.
Q: Have you faced rejection in your career? How did you handle it?
A: Rejection is a part of life, and every actor has to face it at some point. No one gets a show directly. It’s all about patience and persistence. I kept working hard, focusing on my craft, and staying positive. Eventually, good opportunities came my way, and I’m grateful for that.
Q: You’ve worked in films as well. Can we expect to see you in more movies in the future?
A: Yes, I’ve worked in films like Bhram with Kalki Koechlin and Vodka Diaries. I’m also exploring more film projects, and I can’t wait to share more details with my fans soon.
Q: Being from a small town, did you face any challenges in pursuing your dreams?
A: Coming from a small town, it was definitely challenging. But I was lucky to have the support of my family. Without their encouragement, it would have been tough to pursue my dreams in Mumbai. Many people from small towns face struggles, but if you have your family’s backing, you can overcome any obstacle.
Q: Which show is closest to your heart, and why?
A: Shubh Laabh is very close to my heart. When I got the call for the show, my father passed away just that day. It was a difficult time for me, but my mother encouraged me to go ahead with it. The entire team supported me through that tough phase, and that show became one of the biggest challenges and accomplishments of my life.
Q: Do you have a message for the people of Jammu and Kashmir?
A: To the people of Jammu and Kashmir, I want to say: stay strong, focus on your dreams, and never let negativity bring you down. Life has its ups and downs, but failure is just a part of the journey. Be patient, keep your faith, and great things will come your way. Thank you for your love and support!
With her inspiring journey and dedication, Mahi Sharma continues to captivate audiences and prove that with hard work and family support, any dream is achievable.
