JAMMU, Sept 4: Maharaja Hari Singh Foundation, led by Founding Chairman Ajatshatru Singh and Founding Co-Chair Dr Ritu Singh, today organized a relief donation drive to support families affected by the recent flash floods in Jammu.
The drive was launched at Delhi Public School (DPS) Jammu in coordination with the District Administration Jammu.
The relief consignment included essential items such as school bags, notebooks, pencils, erasers, sharpeners, clothing including sweaters, track suits, T-shirts, jackets, and bedding materials like mattresses, pillows, and bed sheets.
Hygiene items such as toothpaste, toothbrushes, Dettol soap, and bottled water were also provided to help families recover from the disaster.
Speaking at the event, Dr Ritu Singh said, “The Foundation is committed to Maharaja Hari Singh’s vision of service to humanity. In these testing times, it is our duty to extend support to those affected by the floods.”
She added that DPS Nagbani and DPS Katra will organize similar drives in Akhnoor and Reasi in the coming days.
Meanwhile, a statement said that on the eve of Teachers’ Day, teachers of all three DPS institutions have also pledged one day’s salary to continue relief efforts.
Receiving the relief, Additional District Magistrate Ansuya Jamwal expressed gratitude, saying, “Such gestures restore hope and give courage to families in distress.”
DPS Jammu Director S S Sodhi said, “This initiative reflects the values of care, responsibility, and resilience that our school stands for, and it is our way of standing with the people of Jammu during this calamity.”
The event was attended by Principals and administrators of DPS institutions, including DPS Jammu, DPS Nagbani, and DPS Katra, who together highlighted the importance of community support.
The ceremony concluded with a message of resilience, shared responsibility, and unity, emphasizing that collective effort can make a meaningful difference in times of crisis.
