JAMMU, Jan 17: Mahant Rohit Shastri, President Shri Kailakh Jyotish Avam Vedic Sansthan Trust, Tuesday called on Er Gulam Ali Khatana, Member Parliament, Rajya Sabha in New Delhi and presented a memorandum regarding the present scenario of the Citizen’s Cooperative Bank Limited.
As per a statement, Shastri apprised the Rajya Sabha MP about the working of the bank besides issues being faced by the bank due to COVID-19 pandemic.
Shastri told Er Gulam Ali Khatana that Cooperative Bank is the biggest urban sector bank with approximately 44000 primary members serving the micro and small scale industries since its inception in 1978.
He further apprised the Rajya Sabha MP from Jammu and Kashmir that the bank has come under a financial stress due to the COVID pandemic and as such, capital infusion by the government is the only way out to carry forward the normal banking.
Member Parliament, the press statement said, assured Mahant Rohit Shastri that he will take up the issue with the concerned authorities and the ministry. Uttam Chand Sharma was also present on the occasion.
