Maha Yagya solemnized at Omauh temple, devotees throng Prachin Amarnath shrine

JAMMU, Aug 27: Maha Yagya was solemnized at Pracheen Omauh temple Verinag on the occasion of Sawan Purnima on Sunday and a large number of devotees thronged the shrine to participate in the religious function.
The function was organized by Vetasta Devsathan Prabandhak Committee Verinag. The hawan started on Saturday evening and Puranahuti was performed next day which was followed by serving of Prashad to devotees who had come their to pay obeisance to the ancient Shiv Lingam.
Addressing the gathering, general secretary of the Committee, R K Bhat demanded renovation of Shiv Temple Omauh, construction of two Hawan Kundas, dharmshallas with all facilities etc which were existing before the exodus of Pandits.
The hawan was performed under the supervision of Jyotshi Rakesh Sharma while the Sushil Kumar Tickoo of Verinag being the highest bidder hoisted the traditional flag. President PCC, G A Mir who is the MLA of Dooru Constituency also visited the shrine and took stock of the arrangements.
Large number of devotees also thronged the Prachin Amarnath Shrine Tejiwara in Anantnag district and paid obeisance there. The devotees drawn from Mattan and other KP migrant colonies performed day long pooja -archana at the ancient Shrine of Lord Shiva, said Ashok Sidha, president, Mattan Tirath Trust.
