Maha Morcha organised by All India Bank Officers’ Confederation

JAMMU, Feb 4: All India Bank Officers’ Confederation (AIBOC), the apex trade union organization of Bank Officers’ in the country representing over 3,20,000 members, today organized a “Maha Morcha” at Jantar Mantar, New Delhi on various issues concerning the officers community of the entire Banking sector.
Officers of various Central Government organizations and Public Sector Undertakings, under the banner of All India Public Sector and Central Govt Officers’ Confederation (AIPCOC) also participated in the Morcha, which originated in the form of a massive ‘Jatha’ (procession) from Modern School, Barakhamba Road, Delhi, this morning at 11 a.m and proceeded towards Parliament Street and finally culminated into the ‘Morcha’ at Jantar Mantar, Parliament Street.
The rally of not less than 20000 members was addressed by AIBOC leadership, Members of Parliament, leaders of fraternal organisations as well as leaders of various Central trade unions, academicians, social workers, representatives of Retirees’ Association and eminent citizens.
The core objectives for organizing such a ‘Maha Morcha’, were; opposing the proposed merger/amalgamation of Vijaya Bank, Dena Bank and Bank of Baroda, opposing the merger of Regional Rural Banks (RRBs), demanding scrapping of New Pension Scheme (NPS) and restoration of Defined Pension scheme, demanding updation of pension and revision of Family Pension, protesting the retrograde decision of Catholic Syrian Bank management to reduce the retirement age from 60 to 58, protesting attack and assault on bankers, demanding publication of list of willful corporate defaulters, immediate appointment of Workmen and Officer Directors in Boards of all the PSBs, opposing fractured mandate for officers (instead of full and complete mandate covering all officers in Scale I to VII) and demanding decent wage revision in 11th Bipartite Settlement based on ‘Charter of Demand’ submitted by four Officers’ organisations based on Minimum Wages principle, demanding adequate recruitment in PSBs, and opposing Mis-selling of Third Party Products etc.
Apart from Comrade Sunil Kumar, Chairman AIBOC and Comrade Debasis Ghosh, president, AIBOC, prominent amongst those, who addressed the massive assembly, included Sanjay Singh, MP from Aam Aadmi Party; N K Premachandran, MP Lok Sabha from Revolutionary Socialist Party; Tapan Sen, general secretary, CITU; Debasish Basu Chaudhury, general secretary, BEFI; Subhas S Sawant, general secretary, INBEF and Srikantha Mishra, secretary, AIIEA Delhi State Unit.
