JAMMU, Jan 7: The 270th Maha Jayanti of mystic saint of medieval Kashmir, Swami Mirzakak Ji popularly known as Kak Sahib was celebrated with religious fervor and gaiety at Swami Ji’s Nagrota Asthapan today.
A large number of people drawn from different parts of Jammu thronged the Ashram and participated in the religious function there. A Maha Yagya was also solemnized in the Asthapan premises by the Swami Mirzakak Trust Hangalgund camp Jammu on the occasion.
The Maha Yagya started yesterday evening and it culminated this afternoon with Puranahuti. The devotees were served with Prashad after the Puranahuti.
The Bhajan Kirtan was held in the Asthapan premises since yesterday evening. The religious scholars threw light on the life and teachings of Swami Ji. They said he was the second mystic saint after Laleshwari (Lal Dedh) who continued the Vaakh Parampara (tradition) of Kashmir mysticism.
They said Swami Ji has made many miracles during his life time and one was that he spelled a doom to tyrant Afghan rulers who had committed many atrocities on the people of Kashmir at that time leading to their persecution. As the people had suffered a lot under the Afghan rule Swami Ji made a prophecy one day that end of Afghan rule will be soon and Sikhs will take over the reigns of Government in Kashmir.
This prophecy proved true as after a couple of days Maharaja Ranjeet Singh ruler of Punjab raided Kashmir and defeated the Afghan Governor, forced Afghans to flee to Kabul and people of Valley got rid of their atrocities and order was restored in Kashmir Valley.
They said Swami Ji has led a simple life and his followers used to visit from different parts of Kashmir to his village to have his darshan. He was a benevolent soul who always blessed his disciples and his Vaaks are full of religious philosophy.
