JAMMU, May 5: Senior Congress leader Sumeet Magotra conducted extensive tour of several villages adjoining with Krimchi and Thathi areas of Udhampur and listened the problems of the people.
Local people told Congress leader that heavy curtailment of electricity in their respective areas for the last one month has caused several problems. They alleged that cases of snake bite are increasing day by day in this hilly and dense forest areas of Udhampur.
Inhabitants of these areas further disclosed that majority of deserving families have been issued BPL ration cards but they are bound to purchase food grains from open market instead of Rashion Depots. People also informed that maximum government schools of these areas have shortage of teaching staff and many times they brought this issue into the notice of authorities concerned but still concerned department is unable to depute required staff in these government schools resulting education of students is badly affected.
While interacting with the local people of these areas Magotra expressed that at present people of urban and rural areas are facing scarcity of drinking water, irregular supply of electricity but authorities concerned have shut their eyes and are not taking seriously these problems. He said many school buildings of this hilly areas are in deteriorated condition.
He appealed the people to demonstrate against the misrule of J&K UT. He also assured them that he will bring their problems into the notice of the authorities concerned of district administration.
