KATRA, Mar 16: The 15-day long ‘Handloom Expo-2015’ was a big hit in the Katra. The expo, that created a lot of enthusiasm, concluded here today at Spiritual Growth Center.
The sparkling and fizzy shades of different regions enchanted the customers and they also took pleasure of various cultural events organized there.
On the concluding day of the fair today, a huge crowd was noticed at Spiritual Growth Center, Katra buying the handloom and handicraft materials. The shopaholics enjoyed shopping at as many as 50 stalls adorned with the handloom and handicraft materials.
The visitors also enjoyed live cultural events like, folk, ghazals, orchestra and much more.
Assistant Director, Handloom, Manu Hansa said, “This mela is basically organized to promote self help groups living in different parts of the State of Jammu and Kashmir. At this mela, not only the visitors enjoyed shopping but, the artisans also had a great time selling their products,” he added.
More than 50 stalls from different societies attracted the customers not only from Reasi district but also the tourists were a part of the fair.
Around 42 societies from across the State participated in the State level expo. Stalls from Jammu, followed by Kathua, Udhampur, Kishtwar, Bandipura, Srinagar and Kulgam displayed the stuff in the National exhibition. Pure silk and cotton apparel majorly captivated the attention of the visitors.
