JAMMU, Mar 23: Congress coalition candidate from Jammu-Poonch constituency Madan Lal Sharma today opened election office at Bagh-e-Bahu and addressed a series of public meetings at Gandhi Nagar, Karan Bagh, Channi, Trikuta Nagar, Marh and Sarwal.
Sharma sought the vote on the basis of his performance in the last 10 years and need of a vibrant leader like him to represent the people of Jammu Poonch constituency.
He asked the people to take pledge to keep State and the nation united by keeping a distance from the vested interest and the communal forces who are bent upon to create an environment of uncertainty.
Sharma asked the people to unite against such forces and press hand button on EVM on April 10.
Raman Bhalla, Minister for Housing, Culture and Horticulture highlighted the works done by the MP. He said that Sharma acted as a bridge between centre and the State and facilitated the sanctioning and implementation of various infrastructural projects, schemes not only for Gandhi Nagar but throughout for his constituency from Samba to Poonch.
He said Madan Lal Sharma is the only person who can represent the aspirations of Jammu people and can watch their interest as the same has been proved by Sharma in the last tenures.
Later, Madan Lal Sharma also addressed public-cum-workers meetings in Marh and Sarwal, Janipur wherein a large number of his supporters gathered and assured him of their full support.
Prominent among those who sought vote for Sharma includes Balwan Singh, Ex-MLA, Kanta Bhan and Vijay Sharma, block president.
Sharma also laid wreath on the portraits of Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Raj Guru and Sukhdev and recalled their role in the Indian freedom struggle.
