Madan demands RBA status for border people

R.S.PURA, Oct 28: Member Parliament Jammu Poonch Constituency M L Sharma conducted an extensive tour of Border villages of R.S Pura Block including Gharana, Kapoorpur, Avtal, Basti Gulab Garh, Suchetgarh, Khotorana, Abdullian, Chandu Chak, Bega, Bera, Raipur, Tokani, Hanso Chak, Fathepur and appealed the State Government to declare border belts on IB as RBA in view of their ongoing problems.
Mr. Sharma appealed the State Govt. to allot 5 marla plot to affected people on IB and LOC in the safer zone beyond firing range. He asked the administration to carry out a detailed assessment and register all such migrants, so that proper support can be provided.
Mr. Sharma demanded construction of bunkers for the civil population in border villages, so that they can take shelter in case of heavy firing and shelling. He informed that in view of heavy shelling and ceasefire violations by the Pakistani Army in Jammu, Samba, Rajouri and Poonch districts people who are unable to move from their houses are unable to earn their livelihood. He demanded that relief and ration should be given to such households. He also demanded enhancement in compensation to the victims of border firing at par with the victims of militancy in J&K. Presently border victims are entitled for Rs. 1 lakh and Militancy victim for Rs 5 lakh. Mr. Sharma strongly voiced to end this discrimination.
He also demanded  special on spot recruitment from border areas in Police with age/qualification relaxation, as the education of the people residing on border belts  suffered because  they have faced 5 major wars and shelling/firing. He said that people of border areas are living under great threat and fear.
He also demanded to increase rent of the land under Army use and he suggested that Army should acquire that land and provide suitable compensation to the people. Mr. Sharma also demanded that the BADP grant should be enhanced as the present allocations is not enough even to cater to the basic amenities for the border populace.
