SRINAGAR, Oct 17: In order to explore the possibility of leveraging the agriculture and horticulture produce of J&K, a delegation of ‘Lulu International Group’ today called on Advisor Farooq Khan.
Lulu Group is an Abu Dhabi based multinational conglomerate that operates a chain of hypermarkets and retail companies across the globe. The group has 179 retail stores in 22 countries with a head count of 57000 and annual revenue of 6.9 Billion US dollars.
On the occasion, Advisor Khan encouraged the group to get in touch with the horticulture & agriculture growers and informed them that horticulture and agriculture produce of J&K is one of its kind in the world given the state’s distinct geo-climatic orientation.
He told the group that J&K produces the best saffron and honey in the world and likewise the heirloom rice varieties of J&K are considered best in terms of quality.
The delegation assured Advisor Khan that through their global hypermarket network, they would facilitate international marketing platform for the horticulture and agriculture growers of J&K. Delegation also informed the Advisor that they have already initiated market operations in J&K and would be lifting one container of ‘export apple’ from a local enterprise.
‘Lulu International Group’ would be establishing marketing offices in J&K which would entail substantial employability in the areas of marketing information technology and accountancy.
In another meeting, the delegation discussed marketing of Agriculture and Horticulture products with Secretary Agriculture and Horticulture, Manzoor Ahmad Lone.
On the occasion, Secretary directed the officers of Agriculture and Horticulture to facilitate the group to reach out to the genuine growers and certify the quality. He articulated the export potential of different agriculture and horticulture crops of J&K.
