Lt Gen Chachra on 3-day visit to Valley, calls on CM

Srinagar, July 8:  The Northern Army Commander Lt Gen Sanjiv Chachra, today arrived here on three-day visit.
After taking over the reins of the most prestigious Northern Command, Lt Gen Sanjiv Chachra, arrived here this morning. He first visited  the Amarnath Shrine and paid obeisance on behalf of the Chief of the Army Staff and entire Northern Command.
The Commander reviewed the overall security arrangements of Amarnath Yatra and lauded all the security agencies for the synergised efforts made by them towards the security arrangements and other facilities to meet any contingency.
On his return, the General was received by Chinar Corps Commander, Lt Gen Gurmit Singh at Badami Bagh Cantonment. Army Commander along with Chinar Corps Commander, also called on Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and discussed with him matters relating to security.
Army Commander was also briefed on the operational preparedness and prevailing security situation in the Valley by the Chinar Corps Commander. During the visit, the Army Commander will be visiting the troops located in the forward areas along the Line of Control as well as in the hinterland.
The General Officer is also scheduled to call on Governor NN Vohra.
