GANDERBAL, Aug 26: The 6th meeting of the court of Central University of Kashmir (CUK) was held today in both offline and online mode with Chancellor, Lt Gen (Retd) Syed Ata Hasnain in chair.
Addressing the participants, the Chancellor said that despite pandemic, the university has been successful in managing the academic affairs and conducting the offline examinations of student at their respective district headquarters across the Jammu and Kashmir. He said that although the university is doing reasonably well in academics but it is always open and welcome to the suggestions and advices from the members of the court who are great intellectuals and educationists from across the country, for further improvements.
Lt Gen (Retd) Syed Ata Hasnain further emphasized that among other things, there is a need of starting comprehensive coaching for the aspirants of Jammu and Kashmir, intending to join civil services and other competitive examinations and Central University need to take action in this regard in addition to the earlier initiatives done by the university in this regard.
Vice Chancellor Prof Mehraj ud Din Mir gave a brief resume about establishment and functioning of the university since its inception and informed that the university at present has nine schools of study comprising 17 departments offering 35 undergraduate post-graduate, research and diploma programmes . He said university has 11 Professors, six associate professors and 70 assistant professors working on substantive basis, with more than 100 contractual and teaching assistants.
The VC said the university compensated the academic loss during the Covid pandemic by holding online lectures and circulating teaching material to the students. He said the university faculty members have received several projects from different agencies, adding the varsity has also bagged the Design and Innovation Centre (DIC) project, through which technical skills are imparted to the youngsters.
Later, presentations were made by Director, Research & Development; Director, IQAC; Deans of Schools; Finance Officer, Controller of Examinations, Project Coordinator/ Director(DIC) and Director ITSS. The members discussed various agenda items and took important decision in this regard. Registrar, Prof M Afzal Zargar presented the agenda items and also proposed the vote of thanks.
