JAMMU, Jan 20: Lieutenant Colonel Roshan Batra of 110 Battalion attended CBC’s  Multimedia Exhibition on ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav (AKAM)’ as a chief guest at Akhnoor, organized by Central Bureau of Communication (CBC), Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, GoI, along with Joint Director, CBC, J&K and Ladakh Region, here today.
In his address, Batra appreciated the efforts of CBC J&K for organizing the exhibition at Akhnoor and urged the audience to grasp knowledge being disseminated by the CBC regarding AKAM, Azadi Quest, various centrally sponsored schemes and initiatives of District Administration. The youth must use web portals of various departments to avail the benefits of various centrally sponsored schemes under Digital India, he emphasized.
Joint Director, CBC J&K, Gh. Abass said that the onus to avail benefits of the Government schemes lies with the citizens. He said that a joint effort by the policy makers, communicators, citizens as well as those responsible for the implementation at the ground level is required to ensure the welfare schemes serve the intended purpose.
He further said that under the PM’s 15 Point programme for minorities, special attention is given to the states and UTs where a substantial minority population is present. He also expressed gratitude towards District Administration and School Authorities for their cooperation and overall support.
Mrignayani Salathia of Govt Model HSS Akhnoor, Dr Piyush Kant Sharma, Assistant Professor, GDC Akhnoor and Darsana Devi (PEM), GGHSS Akhnoor enlightened the audience about the schemes related to their respective departments.
The exhibition showcased India’s struggle for freedom through display panels. Major events of freedom struggle include, Revolt of 1857, Non- Cooperation Movement, Establishment of Home Rule, Champaran Satyagraha, Kheda Satyagraha, Jallianwala Bagh Massacre, Khilafat Movement, Chauri-Chaura Incident, Dandi March or Namak Satyagraha, Azad Hind Fauj, Quit India Movement etc. A special facet was also put up to highlight the contribution of freedom fighters belonging to J&K and Ladakh.
Selfie corner, seminar (Expert Lectures on CSS), open quiz, film shows, cultural programmes and ‘New India Samachar’ magazine of Govt. of India will be the main attraction for the youth in the exhibition.
