LS adjourned till 1500 hrs for swearing-in ceremony of new President Ramnath Kovind

Shadow of demonetisation disruptions in Lok Sabha

NEW DELHI:  The Lok Sabha was adjourned today till 1500 hrs for the swearing-in ceremony of new President Ram Nath Kovind.

    As soon as the House met for the day, Speaker Sumitra Mahajan rejected the adjournment motion of Leader of the Congress in the House Mallikarjun Kharge demanding immediate suspension of business to discuss the incidents of lynching by cow vigilantes.

     The Opposition led by the Congress tried to raise the issue but the Speaker said according to the rules, the Question Hour cannot be suspended. She was adjourning the House anyway for letting the members attend the swearing-in ceremony of the new President in the Central Hall of the Parliament, she stated.

    Mr Kovind will be sworn in as the 14th President of the country at 1215 hrs. (AGENCIES)
