LPEF delegation meets 8th Pay Commission team

SRINAGAR, June 4: A delegation of the Jammu & Kashmir Government Low Paid Employees Federation (LPEF) under the leadership of State general secretary, Mohd Javid Shah met with the team of the 8th Central Pay Commission.
During the meeting, a detailed memorandum containing 21 demands was submitted.
A thorough discussion was held on each demand, supported by justifications and evidence. The key demands included increasing the fitment factor to the proposed minimum of 3.86. Merging 50% Dearness Allowance (DA) into the basic pay and granting 20% interim relief, increasing the annual increment to 6%, and raising the House Rent Allowance (HRA) to 20% and 30% of basic pay.
It also demanded increasing the Medical Allowance to ?6,000, implementing the Old Pension Scheme (OPS), increasing the children’s Education Allowance to Rs 7,000 per month, introducing Risk Allowance and Hard-Duty Allowance, adopting a five-day work week instead of six days, increasing the amount of Leave Travel Allowance (LTA), regularizing all temporary employees, including contractual workers, Anganwadi workers ASHA workers and others. Mohammed Shaban, Abdul Rashid Dar and other office bearers of the Federation were present in the meeting.
