Lone, Bhalla release book on Mathematics

JAMMU, Feb 23: Minister for Higher Education, Mohd Akbar Lone in presence of Minister for Housing, Horticulture and Culture, Raman Bhalla released a book on Mathematics titled ‘An Inquiry into Evolution of Mathematics’ written by Dr Raj Shree Dhar at Government MAM College, here today.
Director Colleges Prof Nalini Kohli, Prof SD Sharma, Head of the Department of Mathematics, Central University, Prof Deep Sahi, Prof Ramnika Jalali from Jammu University, Prof Ajeet Angral, Principal, GDC, Reasi and Prof Romesh Chander, Principal, Government MAM College, Jammu were also present on the occasion.
In his address, Mr Lone said that Mathematics has a place in all the religions and from times immemorial it has been used in all aspects. He impressed upon all the students and the teachers to learn latest trends in Mathematics and apply them accordingly.
Earlier, Prof Romesh Chander, Principal of the College said that knowledge of Mathematics is applied in all fields of work, from creating software systems to the field of investigation in areas like brain mapping, in lie-detector machines, finger-printing to simple house hold jobs etc.
Dr Raj Shree Dhar, author of the book in her speech about the book said that the book discusses general development of Mathematics as a true science being the leveler of all distinctions based upon religion, race and nationality.
Prof SD Sharma, Head, Department of Mathematics, Central University, Jammu remarked that the book is systematically written, mentioning the gradual evolution of Mathematics, its career and branches and it touches women mathematicians .
Earlier, Lone along with Bhalla laid Foundation Stone of Women Hostel and Indoor Sports Complex in the College Campus.
Paloumi, PG student of Mathematics conducted the proceedings and Dr Raj Shree Dhar presented vote of thanks.
