NEW DELHI, May 13:
Lok Sabha today expressed grief at the death of people in Nepal and different parts of India in an earthquake on Tuesday.
More than 57 persons are reported to have been killed and several others injured following the temblor, which also caused large-scale destruction of property.
The epicentre of the earthquake was 83 kilometres east of Kathmandu and around six major aftershocks were reported in the region.
Tremors were felt in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Delhi, Assam, Odisha, Sikkim and West Bengal and adjoining areas. 17 people are reported to have been killed in India, with 15 deaths in Bihar, Speaker Sumitra Mahajan said.
“The House expresses its deep sorrow over the loss of lives and conveys heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and wish speedy recovery of the injured,” she said.
