SRINAGAR, Aug 12: In a big step towards ensuring smooth and timely completion of the four lanning Jammu-Srinagar National Highway project, District Lok Adalat settled land acquisition cases in Anantnag after enhancing the compensation amount.
The Lok Adalat was held at District Court Complex, Anantnag, under the chairmanship of Abdul Rashid Malik, Principal District and Sessions Judge Anantnag. The Deputy Commissioner Anantnag Bashir Ahmad Khan, Additional Deputy Commissioner Anantnag Mohmmad Yousuf, Additional District Development Commissioner Hashmat Ali and Project Director National Highway Authority of India, Verinder Singh participated in the Lok Adalat.
After mediation and conciliation between the parties, the Lok Adalat enhanced the land compensation from Rs 2 lakh to Rs 9.75 lakh in favour of the land owners and awards for an amount of Rs 15.57 crores were passed in favour of the land owners of villages Panzgam and Mugal Bagh of district Anantnag for land measuring more than 200 kanals.
The passing of the awards and settlement of the land acquisition cases will ensure smooth and timely completion of the project for construction of four lanning Jammu-Srinagar National Highway.
The award not only satisfied the land owners but all the people of the area, who appreciated the efforts of the Chairman District Legal Services Authority and DC Anantnag for timely settlement of the disputes.
