JAMMU, Jan 25: A Lok Adalat was held at District Court Complex Janipura, under the Chairmanship of Chairman, District Legal Services Authority (Pr. District & Sessions Judge) Vinod Chatterji Koul to take up and settle the cases.
In the Lok Adalat, five benches were constituted for considering the cases of various kinds. Bench 1 comprised of V.C. Koul, Pr. District & Sessions Judge, Jammu, Nighat Sultana, Addl. District Judge, Bank Cases Jammu and Haq Nawaz Zargar, Addl. District & Sessions Judge TADA POTA, which dealt with Bank, Civil and Criminal Revision cases.
Bench 2 comprising Mohan Lal Manhas, Special Judge, Anti Corruption, CBI Cases Jammu and Tasleem Arief, Addl. Sessions Judge, Anti-Corruption Jammu, Jatinder Singh Jamwal, Presiding Officer MACT dealt with MACT Cases. Bench 3 comprising Ashwani Kumar Sharma, Chief Judicial Magistrate, Jammu, Pawan Sharma, Sub-Judge, Jammu and Arti Devi, Munsiff, JMIC Jammu dealt with cases related to Criminal Compoundable offences, U/s 138 N.I Act, Petty Criminal Offences.
Similarly, the Bench 4 comprising Sudesh Sharma, Sub Judge, Electricity, Magistrate, Jammu, Yahya Firdous Ahangar, Special Railway Magistrate, Jammu and Manjeet Rai, Special Mobile Magistrate, P&T Jammu dealt with cases related to Electricity, Water, Passenger Tax, and Civil cases of all nature. Likewise, Bench 5 comprising Wangial Tsering, Forest Magistrate, Jammu and Slahuddin Ahmed, Addl. Mobile Magistrate, Jammu dealt with Traffic matters and petty offences.
A total of 281 cases were taken up, of which, 184 cases were disposed off and a total of Rs. 122091753 were compounded in the Lok Adalat.
