UDHAMPUR, Sept 8: A Lok Adalat was held today in the District Court Complex under the chairmanship of Principal District and Sessions Judge, Udhampur, Ashok Kumar Koul. Two benches were constituted to deal and settle the cases referred to the Lok Adalat.
The first bench comprising Principal District and Sessions Judge Udhampur, Ashok Kumar Koul and Additional District and Sessions Judge Udhampur, Mohinder Kumar Sharma dealt with matrimonial and MACT cases.
Second bench comprising of Sub-Judge (CJM) Udhampur, Jitender Singh Jamwal and DMM Udhampur, Khem Raj Sharma handled the civil and criminal matters referred by the courts of Chief Judicial Magistrate and other Magistrates at Udhampur.
A total of 15 cases were taken up in the Lok Adalat by two benches out of which 03 MACT and 01 civil cases were settled. An amount of Rs. 7,70,000 was given as compensation in the MACT cases.
