JAMMU, June 9: J&K Pradesh Congress Committee has said that lodging FIR against the local Sarpanch and some relatives of the alleged dowry victim in Darhal area of Rajouri District was very unfortunate and an insensitive approach on the part of Police.
In a statement, JKPCC Chief spokesperson Ravinder Sharma said that handful of relatives of the dowry victim had raised their voice against the alleged incident seeking constitution of a SIT but the police resorted to lodging of FIR against the justice seekers. More than the strength of the relatives gathered there to meet SHO, gatherings were seen in several social and political functions of the ruling party in the recent past, he said.
“It is unfortunate and insensitive approach to book the justice seekers for violating the Covid guidelines than be sympathetic to them,” he said and demanded that the shocking incident of the death of the young woman should be thoroughly investigated by an independent SIT.
PCC asked the higher authorities of the police, especially the District Magistrate and the SSP Rajouri to personally intervene in the matter and ensure justice to the victim as well as in the matter of registration of FIR against the justice seekers.
