POONCH, Nov 24 Deputy Commissioner Poonch, M H Malik has directed the private contract agency laying cables along Mendhar-Srurankote road causing extensive damage to it and inconvenience to the public and asked SDPO Mendhar Shahid Nayeem to lodge an FIR in this connection.
Reports said that this road is being dug by using JCBs, in violation of agreement and other agreed conditions. Instead of hill side, the road is being dug on the other side causing extensive damage to the road protection walls. Moreover, this work is not being done manually. The road is under PMGSY and the concerned Executive Engineer has said that he never gave such a permission of digging. Huge traffic jams are being created every day there and public is facing lot of hardships.
As the people of the area and concerned agency approached the DC Poonch, he asked the SDPO Mendhar to lodge an FIR and directed the R&B/ PMGSY authorities to stop the work. He also ordered an inquiry into the matter.
