The locals told Excelsior that they repeatedly approached the Executive Engineer to look into their demands, but were left to fend for themselves. “The X-en told us to buy poles and wires from our own money, so we set up the infrastructure for power connection ourselves,” they said.
A resident claimed that X-en told the locals that he will give them the transformer once they set-up the other infrastructure. “I am witness to the conversation between the X-en and locals when he demanded money for giving the transformer to the locality,” a local claimed.
The locals demanded an inquiry against the PDD and the X-en for withholding Government money and taking a bribe from them.
The Executive Engineer of Anantnag Division, Syed Kurshid rejected the claims of locals and said the department has never asked anyone to buy cables and wires from their own money.
“I reject such claims. We never ask people to buy power supply equipment from their own money. Our department is tirelessly working to address the issues of people,” he added.
