JAMMU, May 12: Up in arms against extremely poor performance of Government High School Nichla in Ghagwal zone of Samba district, locals held a strong protest demonstration in front of the school.
Only 2 candidates of this school, out of 37 total, could get through in class 10th annual examination result, which was declared yesterday by J&K Board of School Education.
Giving a `Gandhighiri’ twist to their protest, the demonstrating people offered sweets and bouquet to the school teachers and staff for poor result.
According to the locals, this school was upgraded as high school in 1986 and they had distributed sweets at that time to celebrate the occasion. “Since then this school has produced intelligent and civilized citizens, officers, teachers and Army men. But it is for the first time that such a poor performance has been registered in the exams because of apparent inefficiency of the teachers and Headmaster, they added.
The poor performance of Government schools in the area can be gauged from the fact that in Government High School Ratanpur Sarara, which was established in 1885 and had been upgraded in 2012, only two students could get through in class 10th result. There were total 13 candidates, who appeared in the exam.
