UDHAMPUR, Dec 19: Agitated over worst condition of Latti to Bagger Jakhed road, locals and students held a strong protest at village Jakhed against the Public Works Department (R&B) authorities, here today.
Amidst raising of slogans, the protesting villagers and students blocked the Latti to Bagger Jakhed road for around two hour. They raised slogans against the PWD and District administration for their failure to repair the road since years. They were demanding immediate repair and black topping of the road.
The protesting students said that due to worst condition of the road, they used to get late in reaching the school while in case of raining, Mini Bus does not ply on the road with the result that they fail to reach school. “Despite manifold problems being faced by us, there has been no action by the District administration and PWD authorities to repair and improve the road condition,” they lamented.
Some locals of village Bagger Jakhed and adjoining areas also joined the protest and threatened an indefinite protest till the road is repaired. Those who addressed the protest demonstration, included Sanjeev Atri, Rajinder Gupta, Kasturi Lal, Darshan Kumar, Sudesh Kumar, Ravi Gupta, Suram Chand, Raj Kumar, Parkash and Ajay Kumar.
