UDHAMPUR, June 18: Alleging failure of Public Health Engineering (PHE) in providing adequate water supply to them, the residents of village Bain, Chalyar, Kharwa Panchayat Mantlai, Block Chenani, today held a massive protest.
The protestors raised slogans against the PHE Department and District Administration Udhampur. They alleged that due to callous approach of the concerned department, people of the area were suffering and their normal life was also getting affected.
Rakesh Anthal, Bhartiya Janata Party senior leader, said it was very unfortunate that public was facing hardships because of no drinking water supply for the last 15 days , but no action has been taken by the PHE department. He appealed the Deputy Commissioner Udhampur, Dr Piyush Singla to intervene into the urgent matter so that people are provided the drinking water.
Locals explained that the pipeline got damaged around one month ago because of PMGSY construction work on Barkunda to Kharwa Chenani road. Even as the matter was repeatedly brought into the notice of the concerned authorities, no action was taken so far, they added.
