Locals protest for closure of wine shop, liquor bar at Pancheri

UDHAMPUR, July 5: Demanding immediate closure of the wine shop and liquor bar in the locality, locals of Pancheri held a day-long protest demonstration, here today.
The protesters, mostly women and some students, raised slogans for closure of the wine shop and also threatened indefinite mass movement against sale of liquor in the area. They also announced to observe a complete bandh in the area in support of their demand
The protesting people  claimed that the wine shop and liquor bar in the area was a big nuisance besides a threat to dignity of people, particularly women folk. They added that wine shop brings a negative impact on the young generation and spoil the healthy atmosphere of the society.
The protesters also drew attention towards increase in crime graph and recent incidents of rape and murder, wherein the accused had committed these heinous crimes under the influence of liquor.
The protest demonstration continued for the whole day and the villagers announced to observe a complete bandh tomorrow demanding immediate closure of the wine shop as well as the liquor bar.
