UDHAMPUR, July 18: Local patients are suffering as Health Sub Centre at Parlla Chapper in tehsil Latti-Marothi, is lying closed for the last six days.
Up in arms against the Health Department, the aggrieved villagers of Parlla Chapper, Chapper B, Pattan Ghar and adjoining areas held a protest demonstration in front of the sub centre. The protesting villagers raised slogans against the Health Department and demanded immediate posting of Medical Assistant in the Sub Center to make it functional.
The villagers informed that four posts of Medical Assistant have been sanctioned for the Sub Center but only one was posted there. However, the only Medical Assistant was also transferred to other place few days back with the result that this Sub Center is now laying closed for the last six days.
The villagers threatened to launch a violent protest against Health Department if the PHC is not made functional by immediately posting Medical Assistant there.
According to Chief Medical Officer Udhampur, Dr K C Dogra, this Sub Center has two posts of Medical Assistant and one of them was transferred few days back while the other one was absent from duty. I have directed to BMO Basant Garh to take action against the absent official while a Medical Officer is also being deputed there tomorrow for opening this Sub Center, he said.
