REASI, Sept 14: Up in arms against Konkan Railway Authorities and the State Government, locals held a strong protest demonstration, here today and highlighted their grievances.
Raising slogans against Konkan railway and their authorities, the protestors alleged that the Railway was dumping its waste material near tunnel site at Grah Morh. Stones and other waste material from dumping site hit the local houses number of times and the damage the structures, they alleged and added that despite repeated pleas to the Railway authorities in this regard, no action was taken so far.
The protestors also held protest oustside the Konkan Railway office at Geeta Nagar and the situation turned serious when they tried to enter into office premises. The protesters also demanded local employment in Railway, proper wages, compensation and payment of over time to local staff also.
Later they submitted a memorandum to DDC Reasi Sushma Chauhan. The protesters also raised various issues there including erratic power supply, water supply, poor medical facilities in the district, poor road connectivity etc.
DDC paid patient hearing to the deputation and assured them of full support from the administration.
The protest was led by Saraf Singh and people from various areas including Sujandhar, Grah Morh, Reasi, Ransoo and Bomaag area took part in the demonstration.
Sarpanchs Maheshwar Singh, Suram Chand, Dilip Singh, Baldev Singh, Sham Lal, Mohd Latif, Tej Singh, Tirth Ram, Vakil Singh, Mussa, Ch Bashir, and others were among those who joined the protest.
