Srinagar, Sept 22: The residents of Lashtiyal Kalaroos in north Kashmir’s Kupwara are up in arms against the local Sarpanch for allegedly carrying out several developmental works illegally and resorting to irregularities.
The locals in this regard have shot a letter to the Deputy Commissioner, Kupwara seeking immediate action against the said Sarpanch who, as per locals, is involved in the execution of works under watershed Development and other ‘illegal’ actions and carrying out works without any approval.
The locals have alleged that the works are being carried out per year at the same place and only the name is changed.
“It is being brought into your notice that Sarpanch Lishtiyal with his associates has made illegal and unnecessary execution of check Dams under watershed department without any approval,” the residents said in a letter.
The residents said that earlier fraud regarding a forged work in which the money was withdrawn was also reported and brought into the notice of the concerned Department “but no action has been taken yet which is sheer highly,” they said.
While detailing the violations, the residents have stated that every year the same works are taking place at the same places but go with different names.
“It is being done to gain the personal benefits from the works that are being carried out while as the community at large has not been able to reap the benefits of any of the work that has been so far carried out by the Sarpanch,” the locals said.
They have also mentioned some of the unnecessary and illegal works taken and prioritized by the Sarpanch which include, construction of Drain Land Protection with Drain near Abrar Nazir Lone, construction of L/Sliding Bund at Lone Mohalla and Reshi Mohalla under 14th  FC.
