REASI, Oct 17: Legal Metrology Department Reasi has imposed a fine of Rs 5000 on a petrol pump for defrauding customers.
Acting swiftly on the complaints of consumers, a team of official of Legal Metrology Department, headed by Rajesh Heera Assistant Controller, Legal Metrology, Reasi conducted surprise inspection of various petrol pumps in the town. During the inspection, it was found that one pump was indulging in trade malpractices in fuel delivery to consumers.
Sumit Bhardwaj, Inspector Legal Metrology, Reasi booked the owner of the petrol pump under the provision of J&K Weights and Measures (Enforcement) Act 1997. After hearing the petrol pump owner, the Assistant Controller Reasi imposed a fine of Rs 5000 besides issuing a warning of stern legal action in case of any future indulgence in any anti consumers practices.
