KISHTWAR, Dec 24: Legal Metrology Department (LMD) of Kishtwar district today conducted a drive against overcharging, defective weighing machines and other violators of Packaged Commodity Rules in the town and its vicinity areas including Shalimar and Sangrambhatta
During the scrutiny, the department booked nine traders for violation of rules and seven traders were fined Rs. 10,000 for practicing unfair trade practices.
The department issued strict instructions to the traders for adhering firmly to the rules and laws framed in regard to MRP, Net content, Date of manufacturing and expiry date. The department also exhorted upon the general public to be a vigilant consumer and do away the use of conventional kanda (scale) system instead stressed upon the traders to use electronic weighing scale.
