During the camp, senior Diabetologist Dr Raj Kumar Sharma (MD Medicine) informed the patients about the risk associated with fatty liver disease and diabetes. Around 100 patients were screened during the camp and most of them were having fatty liver and more than 10 patients were having scores in liver cirrgosis range. All the patients were provided counseling on diet and lifestyle modification by an expert dietician and diabetes educator.
Dr Sharma said that all patients with obesity or over weight, belly fats and having high hip to waist ratio, uncontrolled Type 2 Diabetics struggling to achieve target goals of blood sugar, insulin resistance, poly cystic ovarian syndrome, under active thyroid gland, high cholesterol, elevated blood pressure, smokers and combination of 2 or more of these symptoms, should consult the doctor to further assess the diagnosis and treatment of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease.
