A few years back the Hon’ble High Court of Jammu and Kashmir introduced a reform whereby cases of Senior Citizens were accorded some priority in the matter of listing of their cases. This reform ensured senior citizen a hope of disposal of their cases in their life time. This reform was hailed by all sections of the society. During the period the reform was in vogue. Cases of Senior Citizens were marked as “Senior Citizen” in the cause list. Currently, cause list does not appear to have this priority in the list as seen on line. However, in a note in the cause list does mention that cases of Senior Citizens will be listed on each day 5 cases before each bench and no case of senior citizens will be kept pending in the registry.
If this practice has been stopped by the Hon’ble Court, it is requested that authorities may consider continuation of this reform in the listing of cases of Senior Citizens again especially in Service matters as these relate to these elders.
Hope authorities concerned would consider this request.
