Liquor smuggling bid foiled, 1 held with 108 bottles

RAJOURI, Feb 3: Foiling a bid to smuggle consignment of illicit liquor, police in Kalakote area of Rajouri district arrested a bootlegger and recovered a consignment of 108 bottles of liquor from his possession.
A police team from Kalakote Police Station headed by PSI Amit Radhay and ASI Kalidass, under the supervision of SHO Kalakote, Deepak Pathania laid a routine Naka at Chakli on Rajouri -Kalakote road when a Tata Mobile bearing registration number JK 11D/ 3058, coming from Kalakote side was signalled to stop for checking.
On checking of the vehicle, 108 bottles of liquor were recovered. The driver of the vehicle namely, Rinku, son of Ashok Kumar, resident of Dali, Kalakote was immediately taken into custody and vehicle was seized on the spot.
In this connection, a case FIR No. 08/2022 U/S 48 Excise Act has been registered at Police Station Kalakote and investigation launched.
SSP Rajouri, Mohd Aslam said that check on trade of illicit liquor and narcotic is a priority of police for which several smuggling bids have been foiled in recent past.
