SAMBA, Jan 11: Five people including a line man of PDD were injured in two separate road accidents in Samba district today.
Four people were injured in road mishap after a scooty was hit by WagonR near Sandhwari area of Gahgwal in district Samba today.
According to the Police, the accident took place at Jammu -Pathankot National Highway near Sandhwari area of Ghagwal in district Samba, when a WagonR bearing registration No DL3CAY-0590 on the way to Kathua suddenly hit a scooty bearing registration No JK21E- 5085 which was coming from opposite direction.
As a result four persons who were travelling on scooty got critically injured and were shifted to District Hospital Samba for treatment. After first aid the doctors referred all of them to Government Medical College and Hospital Jammu for further treatment.
The injured have been identified as Naresh Kumar, 27, son of Uttam Chand, Kamal kumar , 27, son of Kishori Lal, Rajinder Upadhaya, 25 ,son of Devi Dayala all resident of Ghagwal and Rajesh Kumar, 28, son of Ashok Kumar resident of Londi (Hiranagar)
Police has taken cognizance of the matter and started investigation.
However the local people also criticized police and traffic police for their failure in maintaining check on those two wheelers which carry three to four people. They demanded that such vehicles be seized and the person driving the two wheelers be punished under law so that the same practice is not repeated in future.
Police said a lineman of Power Development Department (PDD) was injured when an unknown vehicle hit him at Ghagwal in district Samba today.
He has been identified as Nek Ram, 50, son of Maru Ram, resident of Rattanpur Surara at present at Ghagwal. During the intervening night he was posted in PDD at Samba.
The incident took place when he was returning from duty towards his home at Ghagwal from Samba by bus. As the bus stopped at Ghagwal stop and he alighted from it suddenly an unknown vehicle hit him and fled from spot. As a result he received critical injuries on his forehead. The people immediately brought him to Accidental Hospital Ghagwal for treatment. After first aid the doctors referred him to District Hospital Samba for specialized treatment.
The Police has taken cognizance of the matter and started investigation.
