Shopian, Sept 25: Even after lifting of curfew on September 22, life in Shopian town in South Kashmir remained paralyzed for 19th consecutive day today over the killings of five persons by Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) early this month.
Schools, college, shops and other business establishments remained closed and traffic was off the roads.
Hurriyat Conference (G) general secretary Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai, along with several separatist leaders visited the bereaved families of Shopian today.
Authorities had imposed Section 144 in the town till October 10 but they couldn’t prevent the protests and gathering of separatists.
People are demanding shifting of CRPF camp from the town, registering of FIR against CRPF and exgratia for the dead.
