Life-imprisonment awarded in murder case

JAMMU, Feb 7: Principal Sessions Judge Poonch Zabair Ahmed Raza today awarded life-imprisonment to one Roop Singh, who was facing trial in a murder case.
After hearing the arguments of Public Prosecutor and defence counsel, Principal Sessions Judge observed, “court has come to conclusion that prosecution has proved the case against the accused Roop Singh S/o Vakeel Singh as he has committed the murder in a broad day light in presence of some witnesses”.
“On the basis of evidence accused has been convicted for the offences under Sections 302 and 341 RPC. Accordingly, the accused is sentenced to rigorous imprisonment for life and also to pay a fine of Rs 10,000 for the commission of offence under Section 302 RPC and in default of fine he shall further undergo imprisonment for one year”, the court said, adding “he is also sentenced to undergo rigorous imprisonment for one month for the commission of offence under Section 341 RPC”.
