JAMMU, May 31: Taking cognizance of a six-year old Kashmiri girl’s complaint to PM Narendra Modi about online classes, Lt Governor Manoj Sinha today directed School Education Department to come up with a policy within 48 hours to reduce the burden of homework on small kids.
“Very adorable complaint. Have directed the School Education Department to come out with a policy within 48 hours to lighten burden of homework on school kids,’’ he tweeted in response to a video clip of the girl, who is unhappy over the long hours of her online classes and decided to raise the issue with PM.
“Childhood innocence is gift of God and their days should be lively, full of joy and bliss,’’ further adds the tweet from office of LG J&K.
Pertinent to mention that tens of thousands of students across the country are studying online as COVID-19 pandemic has forced people across the world stay indoors and brought changes into the daily routine of all age groups. However, a number of children are not happy with long hours of online classes.
“So much of work is to be given to students of senior classes studying in 6th, 7th and 10th. Chotey bacho se itna kaam kyun rakhtey ho Modi Sahab’’ (Why give so much home work to small kids, Modi Sahab), asked the six-year old girl in her video message, using hand gestures to show the stress she faces every day.
The video clip, which was posted on Twitter on Saturday, got over 57,000 views and 5,000 likes. Not just that, nearly 1,200 users have retweeted the video and many others have reacted to her complaint.
