LEH, Mar 18: Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd), held a meeting with Departmental Secretaries to review the progress of development works in their respective departments.
An official communiqué said that the meeting focused on ensuring that the benefits of various central and UT Government schemes reach even the residents of remote rural areas in Ladakh.
The non-functioning of the CT Scan machine at the District Hospital in Kargil was discussed during the meeting. The Chief Medical Officer of Kargil informed the HLG that the machine became non-functional in February, and funds have been sanctioned by the UT Administration for the purchase of a new machine. LG Ladakh instructed the installation of an MRI machine at the District Hospital in Kargil, along with the new CT Scan machine, in a time-bound manner.
He instructed the concerned officials to prepare for the Youth 20 pre-summit to be held in Leh in April. This included tiling work, cleaning of construction waste and nullahs, installing the cover on drainage grills, and cleaning and repairing flower beds around Leh town.
He also instructed the concerned officials to streamline employees’ absences from their duties. Regarding police matters, LG Kadakh instructed the DIG Ladakh Police to ensure that sirens and escorts are only provided to those who are entitled to them and not to cause any inconvenience to the public by stopping traffic during the passage of elected representatives or government officials.
He also instructed the Commanding Officer, 1 Ladakh Battalion NCC Leh, to prepare 12 NCC cadets for training at the nearest naval station.
