LEH, June 9: The Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd), reviewed the progress of various departments in a meeting with Departmental Secretaries/Head of Departments here at Raj Niwas.
The Lieutenant Governor instructed the officials to complete project works within three years. He addressed concerns such as resolving issues related to daily wagers, clearing pending subsidies for beneficiaries, addressing the maintenance and leasing of Hotel Moonland, resolving SRO 43 cases, settling rights of Ladakhi people in wildlife sanctuaries, establishing anti-sexual harassment committees in Government Departments, and completing pending projects for providing water connections to rural households under the Jal Jeevan Mission.
The Lieutenant Governor emphasized the need to address challenges faced by Ladakhi students appearing in the Common University Entrance Test. He suggested utilizing government officials stationed outside Ladakh as nodal officers to coordinate with students and passengers.
Instructions were given to follow up on public complaints, complete pending work, and make necessary arrangements ahead of the visit of the Dalai Lama in July.
An order was directed to specify the time limit for road blacktopping in Ladakh, with punitive action against defaulters. The Lieutenant Governor highlighted the potential of cultivating cash crops like tulips, saffron, black cumin, and asafoetida in collaboration with DIHAR-DRDO.
The Lieutenant Governor stressed the need to resolve SRO 43 cases systematically and address the issue of exorbitant airfares charged by private airlines.
Dr Pawan Kotwal, Advisor, proposed uploading UT government documents on DigiLocker. Commissioner Secretary, Padma Angmo, discussed plans to increase examination centers for Ladakhi students.
Departmental Secretaries provided updates on projects and pending work. Officials present included Dr Pawan Kotwal, Principal Secretary Sanjeev Khirwar, Commissioner Secretaries Saugat Biswas, Padma Angmo; Secretaries Ravinder Kumar, Mehboob Ali Khan, Yetindra Maralkar; DIG Ladakh Police Shaikh Junaid, and Deputy Commissioner Leh Shrikant Suse.
