LEH, Dec 18: Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retired) held a meeting with the Departmental Secretaries/Directors/Head of Departments (HoDs) at the Lieutenant Governor’s Secretariat to discuss ongoing projects and other projects in the pipeline along with issues related to the smooth functioning of the departments of UT Administration.
At the outset, the LG sought cooperation from them to achieve the target of a corruption and delay-free Ladakh, for which he asked them to clear all the pending files at the earliest as ‘delay is a form of corruption.’ He also emphasized releasing salaries of employees (permanent/outsourced and daily-wagers) on time.
The LG also discussed several issues viz. the latest status of the recruitment rules of gazetted posts to be sent to UPSC and Ministry of Home Affairs; illegal naka points of Transport Association; current status of the airport at Kargil and Thoise; appointment of nodal officers along with their training for the smooth movement of stranded Ladakhi passengers from Chandigarh/Srinagar/Jammu to Leh; status of BSNL 4G saturation project in Ladakh, etc.
There was also discussion on Industrial Policy, accommodation for chairpersons/ members/ judges of different committees/High Courts, UT and national permits for vehicles; display of stalls by artisans from Ladakh at Maha Kumbh Mela 2025 at Prayagraj, need to increase manpower of Ladakh Police, etc.
After a detailed discussion of these issues and the challenges faced by the respective departments in addressing these issues, the LG made several observations and issued directions accordingly. He asked the Secretary School Education to run winter classes until the time of board examinations and ensure zero attachment of teaching/non-teaching staff. He also highlighted the need to frame the Recruitment Rules for gazetted posts at the earliest.
