Leh, May 4: The Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, R.K. Mathur interacted with the representatives of Ladakh Tourist Trade Alliance, who submitted a memorandum concerning issues related to the tourism sector in the view of COVID-19 pandemic.
Considering an annual turnover of around Rs.600 crores from the tourism sector in Ladakh contributing to nearly 60% of the Ladakh’s economy which has been badly hit by the spread of COVID-19, the Ladakh Tourist Trade Alliance made several requests for support of the industry and the people to the Lt. Governor of Ladakh.
The delegation requested a moratorium of 24 months and the loan interests for this period to be paid by the Government.
They requested to fast track the process to provide DIPP industrial subsidy for early disbursement of the finances, waiver of registration and other annual fees applicable to the hospitality industry for the current year and complete withdrawal of GST for a period of five years once the situation get to normal in order to reinforce the much-affected tourism industry.
