3-days Ladakh Winter Conclave concludes

LEH, Feb 23: On conclusion of 3-day Ladakh Winter Conclave, here today, Lieutenant Governor UT Ladakh, Radha Krishna Mathur said that that the tourism industry of Ladakh should work towards a module targetting round the year income generation and distribution of that income over entire population of the Union Territory.
He lauded the efforts of the organizers of the Ist Ladakh Winter Conclave and hoped for the constructive execution of all the ideas and suggestions deliberated during the 3-day mega event.
Lieutenant Governor Mathur presided over the concluding function of the Winter Conclave. Chairman/Chief Executive Councillor Leh Gyal P Wangyal, Executive Councillor Agriculture Phuntsog Stanzin, Commissioner/Secretary Ladakh Rigzin Samphel, Divisional Commissioner/ Secretary Ladakh Saugat Biswas, Inspector General of Police Ladakh SS Khandare, Deputy Commissioner Leh, Sachin Kumar, Deputy Commissioner Kargil Baseer-ul-Haq Chaudhary, Padma Shri awardee Tsewang Motup, King Jigmet Namgyal and prominent personalities were also present during the closing ceremony.
Commissioner/Secretary Tourism UT Ladakh Rigzin Samphel summed up the event by giving the high-lights of the conclave to the chief guest. “Ideas, inputs and suggestions by prominent personalities like famous Indian film-maker & scriptwriter Rakyesh Om Prakash Mehra, duo of wild-life & environment film-makers and Mike Pandey & Gautam Panday, editor Outlook Responsible Tourism initiative Soity Banerjee and others would be useful in formulating policies in tourism sector of the region,” he added. He also said that the presence of each speaker of all the panels added quintessence to the conclave.
Film-maker Rakyesh Om Prakash Mehra delivered the vote of thanks.
While in the morning, guests of winter conclave, comprising of personalities from film and tourism fields visited Thiksey Monastery to attend the monastic morning prayer and visit the popular 49 ft tall statue of Maitreya- the future Buddha. Monks of monastery briefed the delegation about the history and unique architect of the monastery.
Later, the guests witnessed an exciting exhibition match of Ice-Hockey of both men and women teams at Guphuks Ice-hockey rink. A display of figure-skating and speed skating captivated the guests and onlookers alike.
The evening interactive sessions were held in two separate parts of Wildlife & Adventure and Responsible Tourism & Sustainable policy, followed by the question and answer round. Traditional performances added colour to the evening programme.
