JAMMU, Dec 23: Lt Governor Manoj Sinha is learnt to have approved the proposal of referring 257 Jammu and Kashmir Administrative Service vacancies for immediate recruitment by the Public Service Commission.
Highly placed sources told the Excelsior that proposal is all set to be forwarded to the Public Service Commission for the selection through Combined Competitive Examination 2021.
As per sources, there are 56 posts for Junior Scale cadre, 60 for the J&K Accounts services and 141 for the J&K Police services.
This is for the first time after re-organization of Jammu and Kashmir State into two Union Territories that recruitment for J&K Administrative Service vacancies is being initiated.
Last time recruitment for the Administrative Service vacancies was initiated in 2018 and the process had completed recently as the Public Service Commission remained defunct for several months after re-organization of the State.
Sources said that the Lieutenant Governor had earlier called for the referral of all available vacancies to recruitment agencies of the UT and to speed up the recruitment process.
On the direction of Lt Governor, a high level meeting regarding referral of vacancies of Junior Scale of Jammu and Kashmir Administrative service, J&K Accounts Service and J&K Police Service to the J&K Public service Commission for making recruitment through Combined Competitive Examination was held last month in the office chamber of Commissioner Secretary General Administration Department.
Administrative Secretaries of the Department of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj and Tourism Department were present in the meeting, which was also attended by Director General Accounts and Treasuries and Special Secretaries/Additional Secretaries of Home, Finance (Excise and Taxation), Cooperative, Revenue, Social Welfare, Transport, Industries and Commerce.
In the meeting, sources said that representatives of different departments submitted the list of J&K Administrative Services vacancies to the General Administration Department, which prepared a proposal of referring 257 vacancies.
The proposal was recently submitted to the Lt Governor Manoj Sinha, who is learnt to have approved the same for selection through Combined Competitive Examination 2021 by the Public Service Commission.
After the LG’s approval, the proposal is all set to be formally received by the PSC within two-three days and the vacancies are likely to be advertised in first week of the new year thus formally setting the recruitment process into motion, explained the sources.
Advertisement of the vacancies will end long wait of the KAS aspirants, who have demanding a fixed calendar for the Combined Competitive Examination on the pattern of UPSC.
