Let the minds grow

Mehak Gupta Grover
‘ While we try to teach our children all about life, our children teach us what life is all about’. We all love flowers. But,  for the flowers to bloom, first we sow the seeds, water them, then slowly and steadily sapling is ready. Same ways our kids need nourishment for growing up into good human beings. If we keep anything in a state of stagnation we will lose it. But in the present cat race, we forget that for anyone to grow, mind expansion is a must. We try to explore our thoughts in our kids and forget what they actually want or HOW they want to do things.
In words of Earl Nightangle,
‘ Whatever we plant in our subconscious mind and nourish with repetition and emotion, will one day become a reality.’
The brain is a bustling hub of energy, specially during child’s earliest years. To encourage healthy brain development, we must give our children positive stimulation. Let them explore the world of their own ( though right direction and guidance is always required, but that should not be forced). We worry about what our child will become tomorrow,  yet we forget that he/ she is someone today. A small child whose mind has not yet grown, we can just make him giggle by touching his belly. Why to give such an innocent child the burdens of tomorrow so early. Let the child grow! Their minds are not built to sit and be taught; they are built to explore, play and learn.
Our ability to do something in the world depends on the extent to which we are capable of harnessing our body and mind towards our goal and then harnessing the situation in which we exist. Although our mind may appear segmented, but it’s not. When we explore our subconscious mind, we can expect to stumble into things which lie in unconscious mind. Who and what we are is split between our consciousness and our body and the world in which our body exists. We have to try to be clear in our mind. Delving into the depths of one’s mind isn’t something we can do while we are downing coffee. Find peace, where we are unlikely to get disturbed. Free the mind of any worry or stress that may be weighing on it. Realise that whatever is distracting us from devoting our full focus is just a thought. Allow the thoughts to turn back to oneself. Realise that our sense of experience, our sensations, and our feelings are all a creation of our innerself. Everything that exists within us and outside us is an extension of our mind.
Today,  the world is going on a different platform. If we can think a little better than someone else, it is considered as intelligence. If someone says one thing and you can say ten things, you are socially active and smart. Unfortunately, in today’s system of education, everything is determined by this. What is in the brain is intellect, not intelligence. The difference between education and enlightenment is- we can educate ourselves with may be thousand books, but still we will run out of materials at some point of time. Enlightenment, on the other hand, is man’s emergence from his self-imposed immaturity.
Our mind is very simple and clear. We make it complex. Our liver or kidney functions in a much more complex way . Still, we worry about what is happening in our mind? Why do we worry about good or bad thoughts? Thoughts are thoughts! They depend upon what kind of garbage we have- that smell will emanate. When we are children, we seldom thought of future. This innocence helps us to enjoy our lives. Growing up happens in a heartbeat. One day we are in diapers; next day we are gone. But our childhood memories stay forever. Let our children live their childhood with happy and free memories; so that when they grow up, only fragrance will emanate from their minds.
There is so much misery in the society, that is partly by how we perceive our own minds. Our bodies may have limits. We can only stand certain temperatures, we can only go a limited amount of time without air; but our minds forge their own limits. Those with limited mindsets will work within their limits and stay within the comfort zones that allow them to feel contentment with a sense of conformity. But pushing our minds beyond its own limits can give us an indescribable sense of joy by showing us how limitless we truly are. We are what we think we are! If we think we can’t run a marathon, we will never be able to start training. If we think we can’t start a new career in life, we’ll overlook the opportunities to strengthen our talent. Achieving what is beyond our pre- conceived limits is what strengthens- not only our bodies, but also our own minds.
” What consumes our mind, controls our life.”
A person’s mind is so powerful. We can invent, create, experience and destroy things with our thoughts alone. It is our greatest power- a powerful force. It can enslave us or empower us. It can plunge us into the depths of misery or take us to the heights of ecstasy. Use the power wisely.
What is happening in Kashmir is a live example of the power of our mind. On one hand, we have Mother Teresa,  Mahatma Gandhi; on the other hand, we have Ayman al- zawahiri                    (Al Qaeda’s leader), Usama bin Laden.  One worked for the welfare of the people; other worked for torturing them. That’s the mind game. How mind changes perspective? THINK!
