Boy injured in grenade attack

Srinagar. Jan 4: Security forces today arrested a militant of Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) from Srinagar who was close associate of a top militant commander.
Police said that on a credible input, police teams and security forces arrested a militant from Srinagar city. He has been identified as Nisar Ahmad Dar, resident of Parray Mohalla Hajin, district Bandipora.
Police said that he was affiliated with LeT and had a long history of militancy since 2018. “He was wanted by law for his complicity in a series of terror crimes including attacks on security establishments and civilian atrocities”, he said.
As per police investigations, Dar was part of militant group operating in village Kullan at Gund in district Ganderbal.
“He had sustained injuries in an encounter in Kullan in which a Pakistani terrorist identified as Khalid alias Zargam was killed”, police said.
He was a close associate of LeT commander Saleem Parray alias Billa and was involved in several militant attacks. “He has been part of terror groups responsible for planning and executing several terror attacks on security establishments in the area, besides he was involved in several cases of civilian atrocities. Several terror crime cases were registered against him including cases FIR No. 98/2014, 52/2016, 53/2016, 54/2016, 57/2016, 59/2016, 63/2016, 35/2019, 32/2019 of Police Station Hajin and Case FIR No. 69/2019 of Police Station Gund”, he said.
Police said that he was operating in areas of Nadihal, Hajin, Saderkot and Sumbal areas of district Bandipora and Kangan and Kullan areas of district Ganderbal.
Police said that incriminating material including arms and ammunition have been recovered from his possession. “Police has registered a case in this regard. All the recovered incriminating material has been taken into records to probe his complicity in other terror crimes”, police added.
And in the meantime, a 16 -year old boy was injured in grenade blast at Kawdara area of old Srinagar today.
Police said that grenade was lobbed at the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel who were deployed in the area and two of their vehicles were also damaged in the blast.
The injured boy has been identified as Azhar Ahmad of Kawdara area of Srinagar. He was taken to SMSH hospital for treatment where his condition was stated to be stable.
