LeT comdr’s aide arrested

Srinagar, Dec 4: Security forces today arrested a militant in Budgam area who is a close aide of top Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) commander Mohammad Yusuf Kantro.
Police said that on a specific input regarding movement of militants in Poshkar area of Budgam, Police, 62RR/2RR and 79Bn CRPF launched a joint cordon and search operation in the area.
“During the search operation, the joint team arrested a militant of the LeT. He has been identified as Abdul Hameed Nath, resident of Pethzanigam Beerwah, Budgam,” police said.
“Incriminating materials including a pistol and one magazine, five pistol rounds and one Chinese grenade were recovered from his possession”, police said, adding that as per police records, he was active since February 2021.
“A case under relevant sections of law stands registered against him in Police Station and investigation has been initiated,” police said
In the meantime, a militant fired upon a Railway policeman at Railway Station Panzgam in Awantipora this afternoon.
The CCTV footage showed the policeman entering into a tea stall near the Railway Station and a pheran-clad militant fired multiple gunshots at him.
However, the policeman miraculously escaped unhurt. The militant fled the scene.
Security forces immediately cordoned off Dogripora village of Awantipora to trace the militant.
