2 CRPF officers among 3 injured in gun battle

Srinagar, June 28: A top Lashkar-e-Toiba commander was arrested from Parimpora area of Srinagar from a car this morning and on his inputs few militants including his Pakistani associate is trapped in Maloora area of the district.
The commander Nadeem Abrar, who was involved in several militancy related incidents was arrested from an Alto car near Ansari Toyota crossing near Parimpora Srinagar. The IGP described it as a big success for security forces. Earlier, last week IGP had said that he was involved in Sopore attack and police would get him soon.
And an Assistant Commandant of CRPF was among 3 paramilitary personnel who were injured in an ongoing gunfight at Malhoora area of Parimpora area of Srinagar this afternoon.

The officer identified as Satender Kumar suffered injuries and was removed to hospital. Earlier Mohammad Waseem constable and a Sub Inspector Shivam Kumar were injured and were shifted to Army hospital at Badamibagh Srinagar and SMHS here respectively.
The operation is going on and at least one foreign militant was continuing and so far no militant has been killed.
Earlier, police and security forces launched a cordon-and-search operation amid specific information about the presence of the militants. As the joint team reached the suspected spot, militants opened fire which was retaliated, triggering the gunfight. The huge blasts are being heard from the encounter site when the report was filed.
In the meantime, the death toll in last night’s attack at Harparigam, Awantipora has reached to three after the daughter of slain cop also succumbed to injuries at Srinagar hospital.
The Special Police Officer (SPO) Fayaz Ahmed and his wife had succumbed late night soon after the attack at their house in village Hariparigam.
Fayaz, his wife Raja Bano and their daughter Rafia had sustained serious bullet wounds. While Fayaz and his wife breathed their last at GMC Anantnag, Rafia was rushed to SKIMS Soura for treatment.
Police said that at least two gunmen barged into their house and fired at Fayaz and when his wife and daughter tried to save him, the gunmen fired at them too leaving them in a pool of blood.
Rafia, 25, succumbed to bullet injuries early Monday morning.
Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir Vijay Kumar visited Haripargam and met the family members of the SPO. He expressed his solidarity with the bereaved family.
Later talking to reporters at Hariparigam, the IGP said: “Two foreign militants from Jaish-e-Mohammad outfit carried out the attack at Hariparigam area late night killing an SPO, his wife and his daughter”.
Kumar said that there is a movement of Jaish-e-Mohammad militants in the area and it seems that two foreign militants have carried out the attack. He added that further identification of two attackers is on.
The slain SPO Fayaz, who was serving as SPO in J&K Police was threatened to resign two years ago but he preferred to continue his job in police. His son Liyaqat Fayaz is a Territorial Army soldier and is posted in Pulwama district.
Meanwhile, Hundreds of people from Hariparigam and adjoining villages today joined the ‘Nimaz Jinazah’ of SPO Fayaz Ahmad before he was laid to rest at his ancestral grave yard.
Later his wife and daughters were too buried in the grave yard.
People strongly condemned the killings of SPO, his wife and daughter by militants.
